The Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law was established
in Bishkek in 1992. Since then, it has been one of Kyrgyzstan's
most active NGOs collecting, analysing and publishing
information on human rights violations in the country.
The Bureau has initiated discussions on the draft legislation
on media and has taken part in the development of the
new Criminal and Criminal Procedural Codes of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, the Bureau has prepared reports on the
death penalty, torture, the right to a fair trial, freedom
of association, freedom of movement, national minorities'
rights, refugee rights and anti-semitism.
